the art of anna neshyba
The foreign familiar, the modern mythos, and the bizarre: Anna Jane Neshyba creates surreal and dreamlike pieces that play with mythology, fairytales, archetypes, and the body. As a queer and disabled artist, they use art to engage with their history, and compose new narratives about themselves. They do this through illustration, collages, written stories, and the occasional podcast.
meet the artist
Neshyba is a mixed-media artist based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. They have been entertaining themselves with art since they were a pre-teen doodling in the margins of their social studies homework. Their background in computer science and art history cultivated a fascination with digital storytelling, and they use their illustration skills and technical knowledge to create stimulating collages.
welcome to the temple
Founded in 2022, Arte Temple Studio was envisioned as a studio that centered the disabled experience, and cultivated collaboration with other disabled artists. They have worked with Sophie Marie, artistic director of the Das Biest Project, as well as Cat Neshyba, writer and fellow podcaster. Inspired by a near complete lack of queer, disabled stories and representation in mainstream media, Neshyba craved a safe place to channel their projects, and make art directly for, and with, their community. By subscribing to the Temple, at any donation tier, you get access to digital prints, a community facebook page, discounts, process videos, and various monthly bonuses. This is a main source of studio income, and helps pay for supplies, equipment, and salaries. Members also receive commission priority. Read More
